About Jules & Stone Co.

Our Story

Jules & Stone Co. is a San Francisco-based design studio creating sculptural lighting and modern home objects in small batches.

We started with a simple idea: everyday objects should feel considered. They should bring warmth, texture, and character into a space without feeling overly formal or inaccessible.

Our pieces are designed around clean forms, soft ambient light, tactile surfaces, and thoughtful proportions. Each object is developed to feel just as intentional switched off as it does illuminated — part functional object, part sculpture.

Rather than following a traditional mass-production model, we produce in limited quantities and continue refining designs as the collection evolves.

Small-Batch by Design

Every Jules & Stone piece is produced individually or in small runs.

Many of our lamps require 10, 15, or even 20+ continuous hours of fabrication before they are ready for assembly. Each piece is then hand-assembled, finished, inspected, and individually tested in San Francisco.

Producing in small batches gives us more control over quality while allowing us to experiment with new forms, materials, colors, and limited editions without creating unnecessary excess inventory.

It also means subtle variations may occur from piece to piece. We see those differences as part of the character of small-batch production rather than imperfections to be hidden.

Thoughtful Materials

We select materials with performance, appearance, and responsible production in mind.

Many Jules & Stone pieces are produced using PLA-based materials derived primarily from renewable plant sources such as corn starch or sugarcane.

Where appropriate, we also choose durable components that can be reused, replaced, or incorporated into future designs rather than treating the entire product as disposable.

Our approach is constantly evolving as better materials and production methods become available.

Made With Less Waste

Digital fabrication allows us to create objects layer by layer, using material only where it is needed.

Compared with subtractive manufacturing methods that cut finished forms from larger blocks of material, additive production can significantly reduce offcuts and excess material during fabrication.

Our small-batch model also allows us to produce closer to actual demand rather than manufacturing large quantities that may never be sold.

We continue looking for ways to reduce unnecessary packaging, reuse production materials where practical, and make more intentional decisions throughout the design and fulfillment process.

Designed to Be Kept

We believe sustainability is also about making objects people want to live with for a long time.

Rather than designing around short-lived trends, we focus on sculptural silhouettes, neutral foundations, interchangeable components, and adaptable color combinations that can evolve with a space.

Many of our lamp designs feature interchangeable shades and bases, allowing a piece to be restyled without replacing the entire lamp.

Our goal is simple: make objects that feel worth keeping.

Designed and Produced in San Francisco

Each Jules & Stone piece moves through a hands-on production process in San Francisco.

From prototyping and digital fabrication to assembly, finishing, inspection, and light testing, our products are developed and completed in small batches rather than ordered as finished mass-produced goods.

This slower approach allows us to stay close to the design process and continuously improve each collection.

Our Design Philosophy

We are drawn to the contrast between soft and architectural, minimal and expressive, familiar and unexpected.

Our work takes inspiration from Scandinavian interiors, contemporary sculpture, natural materials, woven forms, warm lighting, and modern architecture.

The result is a growing collection of objects designed to make everyday spaces feel a little more considered.
